Today we learned about maps. Ask me at home about what a map is! "A map is a picture and it can tell you where to go." ~AL "It shows you places that you don't know about and how to get there." ~SS "It is a piece of paper that shows the whole world." ~HC How are all maps the same? "They all show places!" ~AH "It shows where to go." ~MN "They all show places on the earth." ~JF "It is something that show the whole wide world so you can know where to go." ~ER Today in writing we wrote about fall time and used juicy words to describe fall. In math we played a Math Game called "Greater than, less than, equal to." We also had a visit from Mr. Wheelie and did a challenge to make toys using only 16 wheels. We had to make at least one bicycle and one tricycle along with some other toys with wheels. Critical thinking! -Quick Draw next Tuesday -Picture Day next Wednesday -Home Reading -Practice spelling words Dear Parents/Guardians,

I am still looking for $11 payments for our Clay for Kids program. This was due last week. If you have not paid yet, please send this in a ziplock bag or envelope labeled with your child's name. Thank you! We will begin creating our flip book in our Quick Draw program on Friday! Spelling list went home today. Test will be Friday. In Language Arts, we analyzed different kinds of apples and wrote sentences about them. Grade 1s wrote sentences, such as "I see a red apple." Grade 2s used juicy words to describe the apple, such as "I quickly grabbed the shiny, sweet apple." In math, we continued with our estimation practice. Here is another video: The Cookie Monster! Leave a comment below stating how many cookies you think the monster ate. Remember: start with a number in your head that you think is too low and one that is too high...then make your best guess from there! In science, Grade 2s reviewed the States of Matter. We are experts on this topic and are ready to move on to the Water Cycle soon! Grade 1s learned the term "transparent", "translucent", and "opaque". Can your child find something in the house that is transparent? Opaque? In health, we read the story "Have You Filled A Bucket Today?" Your child has homework to fill a parent/guardian's bucket tonight! I hope they remember to do this :) Have a great evening, ~Miss Murphy |
